What are mild steel plates or ms plates?

How to Calculate the Weight of MS plates?
Formula to calculate weight of MS plates:
Basically if we want to obtain the weight of anything, we multiply its density by dimensions. In the case of ms plates, we usually express the weight of plates per m2 of plate area.
Density of steel plates = 7850 Kg/m3 = 7.85 g/cm3
Weight (W) = 7.85 * ts
where: W is the weight of ms plate in Kg/m2
ts = thickness of ms plate
Mild steel plates exist in multiple thicknesses such as 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12.5 mm, etc.
Based on the previous equation, we can calculate the weight per unit area for various thickness of plates:
For ts = 6 mm, the weight of the ms plate = 7.85 * 6 = 47.1 Kg/m2
For ts = 10 mm, the weight of the ms plate = 7.85 * 10 = 78.5 Kg/m2
and so on for various thickness of plates.
The previous calculations assume the area of plate as 1 m * 1m.
In some cases, we would like to calculate the total weight of ms plates, so instead of assuming the area as 1m*1m, we multiply by the total area of plate.
For example, the weight of 2m * 3m ms plate with a thickness of 6 mm will be equal to:
Weight = 47.1 Kg/m2* 2 m * 3 m = 47.1 * 6 = 282.6 kg.
